According to British media talksport, Paris Saint-Germain is planning to move away from the Princes Park to build a brand new modern football stadium. The new stadium is expected to accommodate 90,000 spectators and is located in the outskirts of Paris.

Currently, Paris Saint-Germain does not own the property rights of the Princes Stadium, but spends about £1.5 million a year to rent the stadium from the Paris Municipal Government. Therefore, whether it is expansion or renovation, what the club wants to do depends on the city government’s expression. Qatari investors at the club said that due to the team's success on and off the court, the existing stadium can no longer meet the fans' growing demand for viewing.

In recent years, Paris Saint-Germain has invested about £70 million in renovation of the Princes Stadium and proposed to pay £370 million for a comprehensive expansion, provided that the Paris city government is willing to sell the stadium and land, but was rejected by the Paris city government. Therefore, the club's senior management is considering building a new stadium in the suburbs of Paris and inspecting several potential locations.

One of them is located in Massy, in the southern suburb of Paris, and the other is Poissy, near the club's training base. A new stadium could cost up to £1 billion.

However, the plan to move out of the Princes Stadium has also sparked dissatisfaction among some Paris fans, especially those who live in downtown Paris.

Paris Park Stadium has been PSG's home court since 1974, with countless classic scenes and memories born there. Ronaldo, Zidane, Messi, Neymar, Ibrahimovic... are the emotional belongings of many Paris fans.

Extreme fan group in Paris Saint-Germain has been opposed to the club's departure from the Princes Stadium and begged Qatari investors to find solutions.

Despite this, Qatari investors still insist on the relocation plan. They believe that as European giants, they should have their own modern top stadiums, just like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Bayern, which can greatly improve the club's revenue and operational autonomy. To become the top European club in the future, having your own top stadium is a must-have step.

However, it is not difficult to build a new stadium, because it involves many aspects such as site selection, planning, transportation, supporting facilities construction, and ticket price sensitivity.
