Cagliari president responds to Milan boss: We may have more fans in the United States than Milan

According to the sempremilan website, Cagliari Club President Tommaso Giulini responded to AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale’s remarks through social media.

Note: Cardinale previously said in an interview: "In the United States, no one wants to watch Cagliari's game against Lecce. This is a problem. Competition is the essence of sports, but this competition does not bring corresponding economic returns. We cannot sign high-value contracts for the international broadcast rights of (Serie A games). Why? Because broadcasters only want the top events, which is why the concept of the European Super League emerged."

Giulini wrote : "Dear Cardinale, it's easy to say 'no one cares about Cagliari's game against Lecce' when all you know about Sardinia (where Cagliari's home stadium is) is from a tourist perspective. As the eighth-largest club in Italy by the number of fans, Cagliari is both watched and respected. And who knows, maybe more people support Cagliari than Milan in the United States (note: there are many descendants of Sardinian immigrants in the United States)."
