Cherki, who was selected for this French roster, was interviewed by The Team. He said that he had never contacted Algeria or Italian national teams and was determined to play for the Gaul Roosters.
Cherki said: "I have never had formal contact with these two national teams. Before my career started in 2019, my father did meet the then Algerian coach Bermadi in Lyon through his mutual friend. But since then, only two or three players he met have mentioned this matter, and he also met Algerian physical fitness coach in Lyon a few weeks ago. I have never talked to the coach or chairman of other football associations, and no one even contacted me."
Cherki, who may switch to the Premier League this summer, may make his French senior team debut in the next UEFA semi-finals.
