Newcastle defender Hall recently accepted an interview with the club's official media. In March this year, he underwent surgery for a foot fracture and said goodbye to the 24-25 season in advance. Hall has started running training and is expected to resume mild ball training in the next few days.
How do you feel now?
"The recovery process needs to be gradually advanced. I have been doing 12 weeks of weight-bearing rehabilitation training, which is indeed a long time. From then on, I feel that the progress is very good. I could only limp for a long time before, so it took some time to re-adapt to this state. Now my feeling is getting better. The key is not to rush."
Your recovery process?
"After I removed the cast and stitches, I went straight into the hypobaric oxygen therapy cabin, I sat there, and exercised my arms to make my heart rate go up. Every night my arms were so tired! Then I slowly began to try using my feet and legs.
"Because I did a lot of aerobic exercises in the cabin, what I do now won't make me feel tired, it's a process of gradually increasing the load. It feels great to be able to go outdoor training now, and some other teammates are also doing pre-season training. I am very happy to see them, and I feel like I have returned to the team. "
You missed the final game of the 24-25 season. "That was painful, especially the previous few weeks, I missed the League Cup final, which was very difficult for me. I participated in all the competitions before, but missed that final. Although I was excited for everyone, I couldn’t celebrate the victory there, which was probably the most lost moment I had in a long time. I can only sit at home and watch the game, and that's really hard. ”
Your parents, Colin, Laura and brother Connor, all witnessed the cup-winning moment at Wembley
"I know how much my father loves Newcastle. He didn't dare to go to the finals, but I said 'You've never seen your home team win the trophy, and even if I can't play, I hope you can go'.
"Life is always good and bad, you can only watch games and not participate, I feel like I missed a lot. There are a lot of complex emotions in it, and now I'm back out and I've seen the dawn of hope, it's so good."
Talk about the next plan
"For any injury, especially long-term injuries, everything is full of uncertainty. Some people can recover faster, while others take longer, depending on the various situations in the recovery process. For me, my goal is to get back healthy and be ready to play in the first game of the season, but to achieve that, I want to play a few preseason games first."
Your treatment process?
"The medical team has developed a detailed rehabilitation plan for me and helped me in various ways. (Physical Therapist) Arix and Nathan take care of me every day, and even if I am in a bad mood or in a bad state, they still take care of me patiently, so I am particularly grateful to them. (Principal Physical Therapist) The same goes for Sean, I work with them every day.
"Many teammates also try to make me feel that I am still a part of the team. For example, Russells, he would ask me every day how he was doing, although he had resumed training. And Botman, they ask me every day about my feelings and care very much about what I do, these little things are very important to me. ”
Although I missed the League Cup final, is it necessary to undergo surgery?
"Absolutely so, in terms of career and my expectations and goals for the future, if I play that final would be a huge risk and could ultimately affect my performance this season. From a safety perspective and ensuring I can return to healthily, this decision was completely correct. Although I was very disappointed at the time and I thought I underestimated my feelings, the decision was undoubtedly correct.
"There are many things to look forward to, such as the Champions League, the national team games I hope for, etc. It is difficult for me to express it in words. I feel the support of many people in the club, but to a certain extent, you sometimes feel forgotten, even if I only missed 11 league games. But this makes me want to prove myself again and show everyone what I can bring to the team. I want everyone to see me before I was injured, and I hope to return with a stronger attitude, and I can't wait."
