According to Italian media Il Fatto Quotidiano, Juventus boss John Elkan will pay 175 million euros to the tax department to end his tax evasion lawsuit.

Previously, after Elkan's grandmother and widow of Agnelli, the widow of Agnelli, the three brothers of Elkan (John, Rapo, and Ginevra) inherited her legacy in Switzerland. But the Italian tax authorities said they did not pay the estate tax as required. In February 2024, the Turin Prosecutor's Office formally prosecuted the Elkan brothers for fraud in the state and tax evasion.

In the end, the Elkan brothers decided to reach a settlement agreement with the tax authorities, which would pay 175 million euros to end the case. 110 million euros have been received, and the remaining funds will be paid in the next few weeks. Elkan's goal is to terminate criminal proceedings by paying the money and get probation, and to only have to work in social services for one year at most.

Juventus club chairman Ferrero is Elkan's accountant, and he is currently under investigation for tax evasion and may be tried.

A spokesman for the Elcan Brothers said: "John, Rapo, and Ginevra have reached a comprehensive settlement with the tax authorities on the allegations in order to quickly end this painful experience on the personal and family level. However, this settlement does not mean that they acknowledge, default or partially recognize the allegations. In addition, we are in talks with the Office of the Prosecutor of Turin. The results have not yet been determined and the proceedings are still underway."
