Cole: Our recent schedule includes 7 games in 12 days and 26 trips to 5 cities. I don’t want to use this as an excuse.

In the NBA regular season, the Warriors will face the Suns. Before the game, coach Cole accepted interviews with other media.
Question 1:
Reporter: Curry and Dream Chaser play in almost every game. Have you ever looked back and thought, maybe we could have rested a little more aggressively and not played seven games in a row or something like that? I don't know if there is a specific number, but do you think the situation last week has anything to do with this?
Cole: Yes, the schedule is 7 games in 12 days and 5 cities. I've mentioned it a few times and I don't want to use it as an excuse, but I think with older players you have to factor that into your planning. You know, the game I most wish I could do again was that game in Portland, which was overtime. We talked to those guys after the game, and after the Denver game, the season had just started, and they were already limping, and we felt the same way. But that's a good reminder that these things have a cumulative effect. We were completely consumed that night in Portland. It's obvious looking back because the player was simply not ready to play 38 minutes a night.
Question 2:
Reporter: Butler’s attendance rate has been very high since he came here. Last season, he only missed one game in the regular season and playoffs combined. If he can't play tonight, what do you think about him as a unique player? And, how will you respond when he's out?
Kerr: Well, our lineup is very deep, and that is a very critical part in today's league. I think as the tempo and speed of the game continues to increase, depth will become even more important. Every team must rely on bench depth to win games where their main players are absent. So in this case, we will rely more on the depth of the lineup, and at the same time give more trust and authorization to those players who get the chance to play, so that they can seize the opportunity to perform.
Question 3:
Reporter: You mentioned before that maybe at the beginning of the season or last weekend, there were some things that could have been done better. I may be remembering it wrong, but it seems like the last two games there have been some issues with defenders being driven into the paint. What do you think? You also mentioned the problem of defensive communication during training camp. Are you trying to solve it with some zone defense in the past few weeks? How is the effect so far?
Cole: Yeah, I think it's hard to really judge too much based on the last two games because we really don't seem to have enough physical support. Milwaukee and Indiana both outplayed us, especially in transition. We left too many gaps.
You know, when the opponent rushes from the outside to the inside, no matter who you send to defend, it is impossible for a single player to stop that attack. It has to be team defense. To "build a wall," you have to have two or three people in front of the ball carrier at the same time. When you do this, the opponent has no way to break through and can only re-pass the ball.
And we didn't do that well enough in those two games. So we have to improve in this area, firstly in switching defense, and secondly in half-court defense to better guard the gap in the middle and not give the opponent a chance to break through.
Question 4:
Reporter: You mentioned before that Butler helps the team slow down the pace of the game through singles and a more rhythmic and organized style of play. If he can't play tonight, what challenges does that pose when you're facing teams that like to play a fast-paced game?
Cole: Yes, when I said Jimmy can slow down the pace of the game, I actually mean that he is very good at protecting the ball, never makes mistakes, and can constantly draw fouls and get to the free throw line. In this way, the pace of the game will naturally be slower, but not because we deliberately play at a slow pace, but because he is too stable. He can draw fouls and create open looks. That's one of the reasons why we were better last year - he controlled the game. So in his absence, our most important focus is still protecting the ball - which is what we should be focusing on every night. But we still have a lot of guys that can play, and I'm excited for them. Even if Jimmy doesn't play, if the game is fast-paced, we can win at a fast pace. Like Phoenix, they're running around and shooting 3-pointers all game long, so we have to stay solid, protect the ball, make sure our transition defense is in place - those are the challenges we face.
Question 5:
Reporter: Steve, you mentioned that you talked to several senior players after the game - for example, they all seemed to want to continue playing after the overtime game. Players like Curry, Dream Chaser and Butler are all very accomplished, and they obviously have enough say. But as a coach, you have to consider it from the overall perspective of an 82-game long season. How do you balance the two?
Cole: Well, those conversations are actually going to be different at the beginning of the season and the middle of the season. For example, after overtime in the second game of the season, the feeling in that situation is different from the state when everyone gradually gets into the rhythm. What I love about these exchanges is how candid they are. Rick, Mike and I will all be involved, sitting down together, looking at the schedule, and collaboratively discussing and evaluating various possible arrangements. The whole process is very collaborative and the players are very sincere and tell us how they feel. I think this is a good communication mechanism. But again, the schedule at the beginning of the season is really tough - the first 15 games are really packed - so we have to take those factors into account. In the next ten or so games, we will make adjustments according to the situation.
Question 6:
Reporter: I heard from your previous answer that if there are some uncertainties or disagreements, the final decision lies with Rick, right?
Cole: Yes, that’s right. We do give our players a lot of autonomy, and Rick does the same, but the final decision is still made by Rick.
Question 7:
: Your conversation was really special. How did it feel to be able to communicate face to face with Sam Altman?
Cole: Sam? Yeah, it was a really fun night. I had never met him before, and it was really fascinating to hear his story about how he started his company and his time at Stanford. I came away feeling a lot of empathy and empathy for him. You know, he has a lot of things on his shoulders, especially regarding artificial intelligence. The outside world is full of speculation about the future direction of development, but I think no one really knows where it will go. And he has to shoulder such a heavy responsibility - it's really not easy.
