Recently, former NBA player Hayward accepted an interview with the media, in which he talked about Tatum's rise.
Hayward said: "I feel, like I said, I was just selected as the All-Star at that time, and I felt at the peak of my career. And Tatum and I played in the same position."
"Coach Brad Stevens might have designed tactics for me at that time, rather than giving Tatum & Brown or someone else. I got injured, and Tatum got more opportunities, and sometimes, that's the turning point of everything."
On the opening day of the 2017-18 NBA season, Hayward suffered a severe left ankle dislocation and a tibia fracture in his debut with less than 6 minutes of the game, and was reimbursed for the season. Tatum then gained a lot of playing time. In the 17-18 season, Tatum averaged 13.9 points and 5 rebounds per game, shooting percentage of 47.5% and three-point shooting percentage of 43.4%.
