Bild: Liverpool gives Konate an ultimatum to leave in the winter window if he does not renew his contract + sign Guey, Bayern may inevitably sign him

"Bild" quoted the British media "CaughtOffside" as saying that Liverpool has issued a final ultimatum to Konate. If he does not accept the contract extension offer, he must leave the team in the winter window. The Red Army will take advantage of the opportunity to sign Guei. And this also means that Bayern's possibility of signing these two central defenders next year will decrease.

The media pointed out that Bayern Munich is still trying to complete the contract extension with Dayot Upamecano (27 years old), but has been unable to make progress so far. In response to the possibility that the French central defender will leave the team on a free agent in the summer, Munich has locked in two major replacement candidates on the signing list: Crystal Palace's Marc Gueye (25 years old) and Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate (26 years old). But now Bayern may face the risk of missing both targets at the same time.

According to the British media "CaughtOffside", Liverpool has issued an ultimatum to Konate: either accept the current final contract extension offer or leave the team in January. This means a negative knock-on effect on Bayern's transfer operations - if Liverpool sell Konate, they will immediately introduce Marc Guei as a replacement in January.

The attraction of these two targets to Bayern's top management is that: similar to Upamecano's situation, Konate and Gueye's contracts will expire at the end of this season, so there is no need to pay transfer fees to Liverpool or Crystal Palace. But Bayern has no plans to take action this winter. According to the "Bild" podcast Bayern Insider, the defending Bundesliga champions plan to save money in the winter window and will not make any signings.

Liverpool’s plan for the defense is completely different: the Red Army will not provide Konate with a new offer, and the existing proposal is said to have made him one of the highest-paid players in the team. If the player refuses, the club will choose to sell.

Guey was extremely close to joining Liverpool this summer and even completed a medical examination at Anfield. However, the deal eventually fell through due to a last-minute veto from Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. The England international has announced that he will not renew his contract with the London club and will leave next summer at the latest. It is reported that Guey is still completely convinced that he will join Liverpool.

If Liverpool triggers the dominoes of central defender replacement, it will intensify the pressure on Bayern in Dayot Upamecano's contract extension negotiations. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool have all shown interest in the French centre-back.

Bayern is still committed to completing the contract extension with Hupa. Sports director Christoph Freund made it clear: "We are maintaining a good dialogue and doing our best to hope that he stays."
