City Council progress on Sale of San Siro: 24 stable votes and partisan abstentions, tending to pass

According to the "Milan Sports" report, the Milan city council on the sale of San Siro is underway. Currently, there are 24 stable tickets that support the sale. Although 25 will be passed, some parties have announced abstention, so the resolution is currently being passed.

If the resolution is passed, Milan will sell the San Siro Stadium to AC Milan and Inter Milan for 197 million euros, and the two clubs will demolish San Siro and build a new stadium with a total investment of more than 1.2 billion euros to build a new stadium and community renewal. The city council has a total of 49 votes, with the majority required to pass is 25. The members who support the sale of San Siro are all from the ruling coalition of the center-left wing led by Milan Mayor Sara. There are currently 24 votes of favor and have not reached the 25 vote threshold, but the Italian Forces Party announced abstention: "We do not vote for it because there are many problems with the bill. But we also do not vote against it because that will put Milan in a deadlock. We adhere to the principle of pragmatism and not be tempted by ideology. The Italian Forces Party will not support the bill, but will not vote against it. We will responsibly allow the bill to pass and strictly supervise it during the implementation stage."

Although there are constant controversy, the possibility of passing is extremely high when the Italian Forces Party abstains and some of the center-left MPs turn to support. If passed, this will be an important step for Milan and Inter Milan to have their own modern stadiums, and also marks the end of San Siro's history.

Currently, the city council is discussing 239 amendments, which will inevitably lead to a longer meeting time, expected to continue until late at night in the local area. The ruling coalition of the center-left wing (supports the sale of the stadium) is expected to oppose all amendments proposed by the opposition to avoid substantial changes to the content of the bill. In the absence of a key vote, if the Italian Forces Party maintains abstention position, the possibility of a vote passing is extremely high.
