According to L'Equipe, the police officer who received Mbappe's 60,000-euro donation in 2023 was not subject to disciplinary action.

This police officer has been in charge of the security of the French national team since 2004. In June 2023, Mbappe donated 60,300 euros to him. In addition, the other four police chiefs in charge of the security of the national team that year also received donations of 30,000 euros each.

After the incident came to light, the French National Police's internal supervisory agency IGPN launched an investigation into the matter and subsequently concluded that the police officer "violated his duty of integrity" and failed to report the incident to his superiors in a timely manner. On Tuesday, the officer appeared before a disciplinary committee hearing.

Executive branch representatives on the disciplinary committee had proposed early retirement as punishment, but representatives of the police union (which accounted for half of the disciplinary committee seats) unanimously opposed this. Ultimately, after hours of hearings, the officer was not punished and was reinstated.

The National Police Directorate (DGPN) will be responsible for handling the follow-up of this case and is expected to make a decision in the next few months. The police officer is still working at the French national team's Clairefontaine base this week and may continue to work at the next national team training camp in November.
