In the 9th round of La Liga, Real Madrid played away at Getafe. Players from both teams paused for 15 seconds at the start of the game to protest against the La Liga overseas match. Real Madrid also posted on social media and official website.

Real Madrid official statement:

At Getafe’s home stadium, the Pérez Stadium, players responded to the initiative of the Spanish Football Players Association. Players from Getafe and Real Madrid implemented a 15-second timeout at the beginning of the game. This move is intended to echo the protests organized by the Spanish Football Players Association in all matches of the ninth round of La Liga. The association explained in a statement that this symbolic suspension is intended to "protest the lack of transparency, lack of dialogue and lack of rigor in decision-making regarding La Liga's possible plan to move the domestic league to the United States."

"In the face of La Liga's continued veto attitude and unrealistic proposals, the Spanish Football Players Association firmly opposes this plan that is not recognized by the core players of our sport, and requires the management to establish a negotiation platform to fully share project information, analyze the special nature of the plan, and pay attention to the players' Needs and concerns to ensure that their labor rights are protected and current regulations are observed. La Liga officials announced on the 9th of this month that the 17th round of Villarreal’s match against Barcelona will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA on December 20, 2025.
