Dortmund manager Ricken said in an interview with Bild that the rumors of Goretzka joining Dortmund are nonsense.
Previous media reports stated that Bayern midfielder Goretzka may join Dortmund. In this regard, Ricken said: "This is definitely nonsense. Dortmund's current lineup is a combination of experience and talent, so there is no need for players like Goretzka." However, the media said that Dortmund may indeed need to add midfielders next summer because the contracts of Gross, Ozcan and Emre Can are about to expire.
Goretzka's contract with Bayern expires in 2026. He has played a total of 12 times for the team this season and has yet to score or assist.
