Sky Sports reported that Brentford is interested in Dortmund striker Bayer.
Brentford has not yet contacted Dortmund, and Bayer is one of several forward targets the Bees are following.
Bayer is the club's long-term focus and tried to sign him last summer. But he eventually chose to join Dortmund, with a total of 46 appearances, most of whom came on as substitutes.
He was also placed on the bench in the first round of the Bundesliga against Sao Paulo. Dortmund is approaching an agreement with Wolves for striker Fabio Silva. If signed successfully, Bayer's playing time may be further limited.
Brentford hopes to introduce frontcourt players who mainly play on the left to replace Newcastle's target Visa. The club plans to release Visa after determining the replacement.
Bayer is competent for all front positions, but mainly serves as center at Dortmund.
