In the NBA preseason, the Clippers lost to the Nuggets 94-102 at home. After the game, Paul was interviewed.

When asked about his views on the first-round series between the Clippers and the Nuggets, Paul said: "I came to watch the game. I wanted to see something different. I wanted to see how the Nuggets played and how the Clippers played. The level of this series is too high, a battle between two top teams."

In the playoffs last season, the Clippers lost to the Nuggets 3-4 and were eliminated in the first round.
