According to a previous report by Shams, the Nuggets will not reach an early contract extension with Payton Watson.
Watson said in an interview at training camp: "I told team executive Jon Wallace not long ago that I have everything I need and want. I make more money than I ever imagined. So I am not the kind of person who plays basketball just for money. I have always been motivated by this. Playing for the love and enjoyment of this sport. This gives me the opportunity to make more money in this league. But I am still young and I still have a lot of time."
In the 2024-25 season, Watson averaged 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
