According to "AS", Movistar+ has obtained the broadcast rights in Spain from UEFA for all mainstream European competitions (UEFA Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, etc.) in the 2027-31 season. For this, the company needs to pay 1.464 billion euros, or 366 million euros per season, which is 14% higher than the previous contract period.

The current contract between Movistar+ and UEFA was signed in August 2023 for a three-year period with a total price of 960 million euros. This bidding is the first time that UEFA has opened up to a large streaming media platform. Movistar+ said this was a provisional bid and it will need to formally sign a contract with UEFA in the next few days to ensure that its customers can continue to watch these top European football matches.

This Thursday afternoon, news about the Champions League TV broadcast rights came from all over Europe. According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Canal+ has retained the broadcast rights in France, while Paramount has acquired the broadcast rights in the UK and Germany.

UEFA’s goal is to achieve revenue of 5 billion euros per season. In the current cycle (2024 to 2027), this figure has exceeded 3.339 billion euros. UEFA President Ceferin said: "We are working together to create a unique and ambitious competition that provides the most engaging, innovative and accessible football competition to expand our main revenue sources."
